The André and Lucia Maggi Foundation is responsible for AMAGGI’s private social investment actions.

Created in 1997 with the mission of contributing to local and human development, the André and Lucia Maggi Foundation is a non-profit social organization responsible for managing AMAGGI’s Private Social Investment, the largest grains and fibers company in Brazil.

We work to contribute to local and human development, seeking to transform realities with actions, projects and programs that contribute mainly to access to education, work and income and community leadership.

Initially, we worked with specific actions and philanthropic and socio-cultural activities, as required by the localities. Over time, we started to work more strategically, investing in the development of communities and territories together with AMAGGI.

We always consider local knowledge and practices as a potential for social transformation, and we consolidate partnerships with civil society organizations, companies, foundations and business institutes, public authorities and financial institutions – to name a few.

At that time, our objective was to raise funds to construct the Renato Sucupira Hospital in Sapezal (MT).

Given the covid-19 pandemic, we paused the scheduled activities to serve the population in the states of Mato Grosso, Rondônia and Amazonas with the distribution of basic food baskets through the “One for All and All Against Covid-19 Fund″.

We created the Foundation Incentives – More than 40 projects by Organizations and Social Initiatives linked to the areas of Health, Social Protection and Education were awarded financial and technical support to develop locally and socially the municipalities in the states of Mato Grosso, Rondônia and Amazonas.

Sustainable Development Goals (sdg)

The Foundation’s activities are guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global agenda proposed by the United Nations (UN) for member countries, including Brazil.

Consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets to be achieved by 2030, the SDGs are a call for society to work actively to ensure human rights, end poverty, act against climate change and ensure that people everywhere may live a life of peace and prosperity.

The SDGs have a fundamental role in the search for solutions to the world’s main social, environmental and economic challenges. At the Foundation, we consider some SDGs to be the main ones for our work, i.e., that have direct action by the Foundation and others that are transversal, with indirect action.

Main SDG

SDG 1 – Eradication of poverty
SDG 2 – Zero hunger and sustainable agriculture
SDG 4 – Quality education
SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth

Transversal SDG

SDG 5 – Gender equality
SDG 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure
SDG 10 – Reduction of inequalities
SDG 11 – Sustainable cities and communities
SDG 12 – Responsible consumption and production
SDG 13 – Action against global climate change
SDG 16 – Peace, justice and effective institutions
SDG 17 – Partnerships and means of implementation

Transparency

A partnership relationship with the community

We know that transparent action is essential for the success of our actions and to maintain the trust of the communities where we operate. Therefore, its members and councils take decisions on the Foundation’s activities jointly in meetings open to the public. In addition, all work is inspected by independent auditors, with a regular rendering of accounts to the Public Ministry of Mato Grosso and society.
