We are the Foundation

A story that started with a dream

Believing that real change can only be achieved through joining forces to combat the various manifestations of social inequality that exist in the country, the Foundation has been on a journey of constant evolution. Initially focused on specific and philanthropic actions, such as the contribution to the construction of a Hospital in Sapezal (MT), the Foundation has undergone a significant transformation over the years.

Discover our history

1997

The André Maggi Foundation is born

Our objective at that time was to raise funds for the construction of the Renato Sucupira Hospital in Sapezal (MT).

2004

Start of projects

The soy-based beverage plant, the ballet workshops, and the choir for children and teenagers in Rondonópolis (MT) were our first projects.

2007

Creating new forms of support to social organizations

We started the Public Selection of Projects (SPP) and the Social Institutions Support Program (PAIS) through public notices.

2009

Opening of casa maggica (‘maggical’ home) and velha serpa cultural center

The city of Rondonópolis, in Mato Grosso, received our first shared cultural space. Soon after, it was the turn of the municipality of Itacoatiara, in Amazonas, to be included.

2010

Start of technical training activities

We carried out the first technical training activity for social institutions. Starting in 2010, we began supporting projects aligned with the Millennium Development Goals, a global UN agenda.

2013

First strategic review

We became the André and Lucia Maggi Foundation, including the name of one of the founders of AMAGGI (our sponsor). We also created the FOUNDATION’s new project portfolio.

2014-2016

New performance format

We held the latest edition of the Public Project Selection and started the “Transformar” and “Potencializa” projects (Transform and Strengthen).

2017

20 years of the foundation

We completed 20 years of contribution to local and human development. We held the first edition of the André and Lucia Maggi Award, which recognizes institutions active in the social development of their communities.

2018

Second strategic review

From there, we created a new portfolio focused on promoting social protagonism, implemented our Project Office (based on the PMO Value Ring), and created a Plan of challenging goals to be achieved by 2025.

2020

Emergency support (covid-19)

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we paused scheduled activities to serve the population of the states of Mato Grosso, Rondônia, and Amazonas with the distribution of basic food baskets through the “One for All and All Against COVID-19 Fund”.

2021

Fostering local development

We focus our work on developing and strengthening local capabilities through work with social organizations and municipal councils.

2022

Growing with the place

In 2022, we implemented the new design of the Foundation, based on the creation of the Growing with the Local Program and the redesign of our Theory of Change, which resulted in our Institutional Positioning.

Our Impact

WHERE WE IMPACT

Our headquarters are in Cuiabá, in the state of Mato Grosso, and we carry out projects in municipalities where the sponsor, AMAGGI, operates. Based on diagnoses and socioeconomic data surveys, the Foundation establishes, together with AMAGGI, a matrix for prioritizing locations in which we develop short-, medium-, and long-term programs and projects.

Achievements that make us believe more and more in our role

Child-Friendly Company

Our performance is one reason why AMAGGI has been recognized by the ABRINQ Foundation with the Child-Friendly Company seal since 2008. Every year, ABRINQ receives our activity report and analyzes our actions in favor of the rights of children and adolescents.

Mato Grosso Social Responsibility Certificate

Since 2016, we have been recognized with the Social Responsibility Certificate, granted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Mato Grosso (ALMT). We also received the Brotar Award (Sprout) from the Children's Sports Institute of Cuiabá (MT).

Transformers Award 2018

Our Potencializa Project (Strengthen) came in second place in the “Social Investment and Sustainable Communities” category of the ‘Transformadores’ 2019 Award. This award is carried out by RedEAmérica — Inter-American Network of Foundations and Business Actions for Grassroots Development.

Inova MT

The Foundation came in third place in the in the 2022/2023 edition. The award is a recognition of micro, small, and medium-sized multisector companies and institutions that stand out in innovation management. This is an initiative of the Government of the State of Mato Grosso through Seciteci, Fapemat, and Parque Tecnológico Mato Grosso (Technological Park).

12th edition of the Neide Castanha Award

Our action to strengthen the Itacoatiara Protection Network in Amazonas won the 12th edition of the Neide Castanha Award, one of the most important recognitions in defense of human rights aimed at protecting children and adolescents. The initiative, which is a partnership with AMAGGI and Childhood Brasil, was awarded in the “Social Responsibility” category.
